Signs that tell you it is time to re-paint your office:
When you see that your office walls are full of black marks & smudges, there are holes and scratches all over the place, the colours are from another era, and nobody EVER says “I always feel great when I come to your office!” When you experience those signs, it is probably time to repaint the office.
Brand Reinforcement
A new paint job can be an excellent opportunity to incorporate your brand’s logo and colours into the decor of the office. You could also use the opportunity to choose colours that convey the mood and attitudes of your business- for instance, bold, brash colours for an advertising business or muted, neutral tones with splashes of colour here and there for an accountancy firm.
So you have decided that you need to have some painting done in your office. Excellent!
Now for the big decision: WHO DO YOU CALL?
At the end of the painting project, what is the difference between a client saying “I will never call this company again” and “I will certainly call this company for my next paint project”?
CLEANLINESS
The painters will start off by putting on their “inside” shoes
The work site will be situated on a tarp to prevent any mess on the floor.
Floors & furnishings & fixtures will be covered as required with tarps & plastic to protect from dust & paint drips & overspray.
At the end of the job, there will be almost no sign ofBeyond Painting having been there except for the fact that your office now looks fantastic!
MOVING FURNITURE
Don’t worry! We will move & replace your furniture .
SURFACE PREPARATION
Good surface preparation will make all the difference between a smart looking end product and a ho-hum job.
Plaster Repairs
Nail pops are plastered overtop before sinking the offending nail or screw. This will prevent the the nail pop from reappearing. It will also prevent creating a slight bulge in the wall which would be accentuated when the finish paint is applied.
Corners will often concave where the plaster has shrunk. We will check all corners to ensure that there is not a v-formation and plaster as required to make the corners true.
Holes from the installation or removal of lighting or electrical work are patched.
We will thoroughly inspect the walls for minor surface imperfections such as holes, cracks, and gouges and plaster repair them.
Plaster repairs must be primed with a high quality sealer primer which will seal the plaster & prevent “suction spots”. If you have ever seen a paint finish that is marred by shiny spots where plaster repairs were done, that is called “flashing” and can be attributed directly to the plaster repairs not having been properly sealed.
Stipple Repairs
More common in homes but we can do anything from spot stippling to complete restippling.
Sanding
Whenever I walk into a new space, be it a house or restaurant office, I cannot prevent myself from passing my hand over the walls & trim. Within 2 seconds I can tell the kind of company that was hired to do the work.
Standard procedure is to sand the walls and trim between coats of paint. This will make all the difference between a finish that is smooth to the touch and a finish that is littered with bits of debris.
Caulking
Caulking baseboards, window & door frames where they meet the wall makes an enormous difference in the appearance of the finished paint job
PAINTING:
Paint is applied using the proper size roller sleeve so as not to create too much texture in the finish.
Trim is brushed out to prevent excessive brush strokes in the finish.
The “cut” refers to the delineation between colours or finishes at the angles created by the abutment of walls & trim.
A professional painter can free hand (sometimes tape is necessary to fake a bad corner or wavy trim) a sharp cut at your trim & ceiling so that when you glance up or down you will see a straight line without wobbles.
High quality paint is used on the walls & trim. High quality paint will “lay down”, meaning the finish will be smooth and not excessively textured or brushy.
